2018 Kia Stinger is The First Ever 4-Door Coupe from South Korea

The early year international auto show, Detroit Auto Show finally open. One of the cars that awaited to be revealed is a four-door coupe from a South Korea car company, Kia. Yeah, after an official picture leaked and releasing a teaser video, Kia finally introduced its latest car, 2018 Stinger.

What I can say that the Kia Stinger is a trending car. Because many automakers sell the same species and get success. The four-door car is made to fight with Audi A4, Audi A5, BMW 3-Series, and BMW 4-Series Gran Coupe.

In developing Stinger, Kia’s designers have done a good job. Because the car looks luxurious and sporty at the same time. Up front, we can see Kia’s identity grille, Tiger Nose combined with four headlights and four L-shaped LED Daytime Running Lights. To add sporty look, the automaker added vertical air intakes in the front bumper.

Other air intakes are on the side just like any other sport cars. The sloping C-pillar proves itself as a four-door coupe. Meanwhile the taillights remind me of latest Audi A7. But the turn signal lamps and reverse lights are surrounded by the LED brake lights. Uniquely, the line of the taillights can be seen from the side of the car. The presence of four-exhaust adding dynamic look to the car.

For interior business, you don’t have to worry. Because the latest Kias are well-known have nice cabin, including Stinger. Its dimension is 4,831 mm length, 1,869 mm width, and wheelbase 2,905 mm.

Kia’s engineers also have done a good job. The chassis development took place in Europe, Nürburgring was where the car tested, and hired Albert Beirmann as Executive Vice President for car testing who previously work in BMW ‘s M Division.

Stinger is the first Kia which gets ride-damping feature that be able to adjust electronically via a system named Dynamic Stability Damping Control. The Electronic Power Steering can be adjusted in five driving modes. And for safety equipment, the car features Forward Collision Assistance (FCA) that is integrated with Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), pedestrian detection, Lane Keep Assist, and more.

Under the hood, Kia Stinger has two options. The first is 4-cylinder 2.0 liter turbocharged producing 255 hp and 352 Nm of torque. The range-topping is V6 3.3 liter turbocharged delivers 365 hp and 494 Nm of torque. For the V6 version Kia claims that it can reach 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds and its top maximum speed is 269 km/h.

2018 Kia Stinger will go on sale in US this summer.
