After introducing the latest E-Class in various body styles such as, the elegant 4-door sedan, the practical E-Class Estate, and the AWD station wagon that is ready to fight with Volvo V90 Country, now the German automaker just revealed the latest generation of E-Class Coupe.
At a glance, the latest E-Class Coupe has the same exterior design as C-Class Coupe. Actually, the coupe has the same look as regular E-Class. Up front, there are dual LED Daytime Running Lights in each headlights. The air intake is flowing from left to right. Moreover, the grille only has single horizontal line with a big three-pointed-star logo in the center as an identity sport car from Mercedes-Benz.
From side, we can see that E-Class Coupe doesn’t have B-pillar and frameless side windows. Furthermore, there are the third small windows which makes the elegant coupe looks unique. Meanwhile at the rear, Mercedes’ designers put the thinner and longer LED taillights. Interestingly, when we open the door the taillights will flash from the center to the outwards. And when we lock the car, the tail lamps will flash with the opposite pattern. Overall, the latest E-Class Coupe is more elegant, sexier, and sportier than its predecessor.
For the dimension, the second generation of E-Class Coupe is longer, wider, and higher than its previous generation. It has 4,826 mm length (123 mm longer), 1,860 mm width (74 mm wider), and 1,430 mm height (32 mm higher). And its wheelbase is 113 mm longer than the first generation (now 2,873 mm).
And how about its interior? In terms of design, it’s still the same as other E-Classes but Mercedes’ designers put some different details such as, the AC vents that are inspired by turbine, two panel trims (light wood and high-gloss finishes), and the rear seats that made special for E-Class Coupe.
Buyers will be able to choose from three suspension set-ups, the base steel-sprung Direct Control system that sits 15mm lower than the E-Class sedan, the Dynamic Body Control system with adjustable damping and the Air Body Control with multi-chamber air springs.
Mercedes E-Class Coupe is powered by various engines. For European market, there are gasoline and diesel. For gasoline buyer can choose E200 and E300 which has 4-cylinder 2.0 liter turbocharged producing 181 hp for E200 and 242 hp for E300.
