2017 Kia KX7 is Affordable Sorento for China Only

Just like most international auto shows, 2016 Guangzhou Auto Show featured many new concept cars and new cars for China. As we know, it was dominated by local brands. But world brands also introduced its latest models that is ready to launch for China market, Asia countries, or even world. The South Korea carmaker, Kia Motors showed off its newest mid-size SUV, 2017 KX7.

Basically, KX7 is redesigned Sorento. The latest Kia Sorento has been launched in China and imported from South Korea. It causes its price is expensive. Therefore, Kia teamed up with Dongfeng Yueda to make Chinese version of Sorento. And here is the KX7 with different exterior design to Sorento.

Up front, the headlights are still four but now features LED Daytime Running Lights in every lamps. The turn signal has moved from the left/right side to the below of headlights. The tiger nose still there but with more chrome accents to add luxury look. The chromes also feature on front bumper shaping ‘L’ lettering. At that part you can see other LED Daytime Running Lights above the fog lamps. And at the rear, the company modified its taillights which is smaller than Sorento. But the automaker keeps the composition placements where braking lights are on top, and turn signal and reverse lights in the bottom.

Unfortunately, we can’t see the interior of KX7. But I guess it will have the same cabin design or at least there are some changes here and there. The KX7 will be powered by a 2.0 liter turbo gasoline producing 241 hp, a 2.4 liter 184 hp, and a turbo diesel 2.2 liter with 200 hp. Those engines are mated to 6-speed manual or automatic transmission.

How about its price? The carmaker hasn’t made any announcement about it. But it should be cheaper than Sorento which starts from $45,000 to $72,000 in China because KX7 is made in China.

2017 Kia KX7 will be available across China in March 2017.
