After the announcement its plan to develop an MPV for Indonesia market, Mitsubishi just released the first teaser of the people carrier today. The unnamed car is called as a Small Crossover MPV and ready to make its debut at 2016 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) this August.
The compact MPV is build to against the most popular car in Indonesia, Toyota Avanza. The other rivals are Daihatsu Xenia (the twin of Toyota Avanza) and Honda Mobilio. But Mitsubishi said that the car that you will see in the auto show is still a concept. We expect to see the production version at the end of the 2016 or early 2017.
Just like latest Mitsubishi concept cars, the concept car using Dynamic Shield design language as a Mitsubishi’s newest identity. It can be seen from the front side, the line of thin LED headlights, vertical LED fog lights on the front bumper, chromed-grille, and bold lines on the front bumper. Mitsubishi’s designers add wide wheel arches and sculpted lines on the side body so the concept car will look tough.
Japanese carmaker said that it’s a crossover combining the flexibility of MPV and the toughness of SUV. So, don’t be surprised that the MPV has an MPV body and features high ground clearance. Mitsubishi claims that seven people can seat in the car comfortably, thanks to wide dimension and an optimal interior layout.
