2017 Daihatsu Sigra & Toyota Calya Leaked!

Rumors about smaller brothers of Daihatsu Xenia and Toyota Avanza have spread after Daihatsu introduced UFC-3 Concept at 2014 Indonesia International Motor Show. But those companies prefer to quiet when journalists asking about it.

Recently, Autobild Indonesia and Otomania published the photos of those twins via its web site without any camouflage. Reports said that the mini-MPV to be called Daihatsu Sigra and Toyota Calya which is taken from Sanscrit. Sigra means ‘fast’, and Calya means a perfect stuff. The next question is ‘is it made to compete with Datsun Go Panca+?’ The answer definitely ‘yes’. It means that the twin will be sold as LCGC (Low Cost Green Car) in Indonesia.

There’s no report whether those MPVs are built based-on Daihatsu UFC-3 Concept. According to the leaked pictures, the front side of Calya looks aggressive adopting Keen Look that has become Toyota identity for its latest model. Judging by the pictures, Calya likely will have a slightly higher roof and a slightly longer body than its rival. It means that the LCGC MPV has bigger headroom and roomier in the third row seats. Unfortunately, there’s no pictures for Daihatsu Sigra. But I expect that Sigra will have the same exterior design as Calya. But According to Autobild Indonesia, the Daihatsu version to get UFC-3 inspired design in some parts.

For the engine, reports said that Calya and Sigra to get 3NR-FE from Toyota Etios Valco. It has 4-cylinder 1.2 liter and mated to 5-speed manual transmission or 4-speed automatic transmission.

2017 Daihatsu Sigra andd Toyota Calya are reported to make its debut at 2016 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) next August. Probably you can make a pre-order at the auto show because it will go on sale at the end of the year or at least early 2017.
