After its official pictures went viral on the internet unofficially, Toyota Indonesia finally unveiled the 2016 Kijang Innova in Jakarta. Just like its predecessor, the sixth-gen of Kijang is shared platform with latest Toyota Fortuner and Hilux. With a new motto, ‘The Legend Reborn’, what are things that make this car is so great?
Overall, the latest exterior design of Kijang is great and looks tough. Up front, there are bigger headlights with LED projector and LED Daytime Running Lights, and a hexagonal grille with chrome accent. From the side, there’s almost no change but a new window design for the third row and a 16-inch new wheel (17-inch wheel for the top type). And at the rear, the Japanese automaker has made a new design for its taillights which unfortunately looks like Honda HR-V’s taillights.
Inside, Toyota offers more elegant interior design. It features a new tachometer, a speedometer, and an MID. At the center cockpit, you can see an 8-inch LCD screen which displays an interactive Audio System, including Toyota Move. In addition, there are voice command, MiraCast smartphone connectivity, and an illuminated roof LED.
2016 Kijang Innova is powered by Dual VVT-i 2.0 liter 4-cylinder producing 139 hp. For diesel lover, there’s a 2.4 liter Variable Nozzle Turbo (VNT), intercooler, and producing 149 hp. Those powerttrain are mated to 5-speed manual transmission, and 6-speed Automatic Sport Sequential Shiftmatic. An interesting feature in the MPV is Drive Mode that is featured for the first time. Driver can choose: Normal, Eco, and Power mode.
2016 Toyota Kijang Innova is already sold in Indonesia.
