Last week the official photos of 2016 BMW X4 M40i was leaked. Shortly after, the German automaker released its official photos of the high-performance crossover. This is the first M model for the X4. And basically, it is a reconfigure version of X4 xDrive35’s engine and chassis to give more speed and and improved dynamic driving.
Under the hood, BMW’e engineers put 3.0 liter 6-cylinder inline with turbocharged producing 355 hp at 6,000 rpm and 465 Nm of torque. According to BMW, the high-performance crossover is the most powerful in its class. The luxury crossover can reach 100 km/h from zero in 4.7 seconds. And maximum speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h. The gearbox is 8-speed automatic transmission with steering paddle-shift.
Among other upgrades made to the 3.0L mill is a new forged steel crankshaft, pistons with a modified top ring, different crankshaft bearings, high performance spark plugs, a higher level of turbo boost pressure and an increase in the amount of fuel injected, separate oil cooler, an “aerodynamically tuned air intake manifold” and a new exhaust system.
2016 BMW X4 M40i will go on sale in February 2016 in the US. And the company offers 7 color options, including the exclusive Long Beach Blue that is only offered in M version. In addition, BMW offers six choices of Nevada leather of upholstery colors and 4 trim accents.
