As we know, Audi’s upcoming compact SUV will be called Q1. But the latest report said that it would be named Q2. The news comes from Indian Autos Blog when they interviewed Audi R&D Chief, Ulrich Hackenberg about when the German carmaker will debut Q1. The Chief answered that, “You’re talking about the (Audi) Q2. We’ll present it in Geneva next March.”
2017 Audi Q2 is said to be built on MQB chassis that is shortened. It means that Q2 will get some components from the newest big bro, 2017 VW Tiguan and probably the next generation of Audi A3, including suspension and electronic stuffs. Under the hood, the compact SUV will be offered with 3- and 4-cylinder petrol engines and 4-cylinder diesels. The 1.0 liter turbocharged petrol engine is said to be an entry level. The others are TFSI petrol 1.4 liter, 1.6 liter diesel, and probably SQ2 which will have S1’s engine 2.0 liter 4-cylinder turbo producing 228 hp.
