2016 Toyota Fortuner Breaks Cover

After the spy photos and unofficial pictures that was spread around the internet, Toyota finally introduced 2016 Fortuner yesterday in Thailand. Everything is new here from the exterior, interior, features, and new engines.

Based-on the latest Toyota Hilux pick up, New Fortuner comes up with totally different exterior design. So, I don’t need to call it as Hilux SUV. Up front, the big SUV looked tougher and more dynamic than its predecessor featuring Bi-Beam LED and LED Daytime Running Lights which is placed like the latest Corolla Altis. To get luxurious feel, Toyota’s designers added chrome accents on the grille and around the fog lamps. From side, we can see 18-inch chrome wheels that’s wrapped in 265/60 tires. Furthermore, Toyota adds hip-up lines on C-pillar. At the rear, its LED taillights just look alike latest Hyundai Santa Fe. Between the taillights there’s a chrome panel with ‘FORTUNER’ lettering on it.

Inside, overall its design is good. At a glance, its cabin look alike 2016 Toyota Hilux Revo. For the highest model, Toyota offers color combination, such as, light brown and black, plus chrome accents in some parts. Furthermore, buyers can get leather steering wheel and door trim. Meanwhile, for other types Fortuner’s cabin  comes up with black color.

The carmaker offers many interesting features, such as, tilt and telescopic adjustment for steering wheel, paddle shift, electric tail gate, auto lamps, electric seat, digital AC, Cruise control, and more. For entertainment, there are 6-speaker, DVD player, USB, Aux, and Bluetooth connectivity, and touch screen on the center cockpit.

For the safety features, the automaker offers ABS, EBD, BA, Hill Assist Control, Hill Descent Control, Traction Control, and 7 airbags.

Under the hood, Japanese car company offers 3 engines. The petrol engine is still using same engine like its previous generation, 2.7 liter producing 166 hp and 245 Nm of torque. For the diesel engines, Toyota offers new powertrains, 2.4 liter with 155 hp and 400 Nm of torque, and 2.8 liter producing 177 hp and 450 Nm. Those engines are mated to 6-speed manual transmission or 6-speed sequential shift transmission.
