Fiat and Renault just unveiled its new cars to the crowd. Fiat introduced Aegea which replaces the old Linea at 2015 Istanbul Auto Show, Turkey. Meanwhile, the French automaker revealed the long-awaited Kwid that is a budget car for developing countries.
Renault revealed a new vehicle titled Kwid in India which is the latest budget car from French company. Actually, it’s a small-hatchback with an SUV styling, so it comes up just like a small-crossover. Even though it has the same name like Kwid Concept that was shown at 2014 New Delhi Auto Show, the production form of Kwid is totally different. No more scissor doors and futuristic design. At a glance, the Kwid is look like its bigger bro, Duster. Up front, the car features elegant headlights integrated with Renault’s latest signature of sign lights. Grille with boxy motives and plastic molding under the front bumper make the car looked tough.
From side, we can see the black molding over the wheels, a unique line design on the doors, and a little bit of Captur’s design. And at the rear, Renault designer put a simple exterior design features nice taillights. Kwid is the perfect match for city driving because of its dimension 3,68 meters long and 1,58 meter wide. Meanwhile its ground clearance is 180 mm is another advantage if you drive on the road with potholes.
The car which is the first vehicle uses all-new CMF-A platform has good and simple interior design. Renault says that its interior is roomy enough for 5 people and has the best load capacity in its segment. Moreover, Renault offers digital instrument, 7-inch screen in the center cockpit that’s shown navigation system and multimedia features, and Bluetooth connectivity. Under the hood, it has 0.8 liter petrol engine mated to 5-speed manual transmission.
2016 Renault Kwid will go on sale in India in second half of 2015 with price between $4,700 – $ 6,275. Renault hasn’t confirmed yet for other markets availability, including European markets.
Meanwhile, at 2015 Istanbul Auto Show FCA Group revealed its latest compact sedan, Fiat Aegea. To be known as ‘Fiat Aegea Project’, the new sedan replaces the old Linea. The Aegea is the result of join venture between Italian carmaker and Turkey. It’s designed at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Centro Stile, Italy and developed in Turkey.
From the exterior design, Aegea brings a nice and good looking car. At the front, Fiat designers put the elegant design which features nice design of headlights and grille with chrome accents. Just like in the front fascia, at the rear you can see the beautiful design features C-shape taillights and there are sculpted lines in the side that make the car even better. Meanwhile, Aegea dimension measures 4.5 meters long, 1.78 meters wide, 1.48 meters high, and 2.64 meters wheelbase. And for load capacity is over 510 liter.
Inside, black color dominates the interior with the high quality material. Fiat claims that its cabin is spacious and able to accommodate 5 people comfort. In the center cockpit, there’s a 5-inch screen that displays UConnect multimedia system. Furthermore, buyer will get hands-free Bluetooth calling, SMS Text Reader, Voice Recognition, AUX & USB Port with iPod integration, and rear parking camera (optional).
For the powertrain, Fiat hasn’t announced the details yet. The automaker just said that it had petrol and diesel engines with output from 95 hp to 120 hp and mated to manual or automatic transmission. For the diesel engine the company claims that its fuel consumption is around 25 km/liter.
2016 Fiat Aegea will be assembled in the Tofas Plant, Bursa, Tukey. The compact sedan will be released in November in Turkey and it will gradually reach over 40 countries in EMEA region.
My question is, does Fiat Aegea preview the next generation of Dodge Dart or a compact sedan from Chrysler?
