As we know that Infiniti and Lexus are Japanese luxurious brands that always wants to beat Trio Germans (Audi, BMW, and Mercedes). Unfortunately, both of them can’t chase them until now. But Nissan and Toyota never give up.
At 2015 NAIAS, Infiniti introduced a new concet car, named Q60. This is a sport coupe that previews a new coupe from Nissan’s luxury division. Overall, it has a nice looking exterior design. Some of exterior elements borrowed from other Infiniti models. The low roofline and aerodynamic gills behind the front wheel arches were taken from Q80 Inspiration Concept and Q50 Eau Rouge Concept. I hope Infiniti designer won’t do much changes when developing the production version of Q60 Concept.
Inside, Q60 comes with high quality interior material and design. According to Infiniti, the cabin features impeccable hand-stitched leather and precise treatment of the carbon fiber accents. A common problem about coupe cars is rear passenger seats. Some automakers have released coupe cars with limited legroom for rear passenger causing it can be sit by children. But Infiniti claims that Q60 is goinng to have more legroom and will feel comfortable.
Under the hood, there’s a V6 twin turbo engine 3.0 liter. It is mated to 7-speed automatic transmission. Infiniti plans to unveil the new Q60 next year.
Meanwhile, Lexus takes another step to fight with the Germans. At this year’s NAIAS, it showed off the long-rumor GS F to the world. Just like what previous rumors told us, the GS F is ordered to go head to head with Audi RS6, BMW 5, the latest Cadillac CTS-V, Jaguar XFR-S, and Mercedes E63 AMG. It’s not an easy job to beat them. Moreover, it comes with a naturally-aspirated engine from RC F, V8 5.0 liter. The powertrain has 467 hp at 7,100 rpm and 527 Nm of torque at 4,800 – 5,600 rpm. It is mated with 8-speed automatic transmission with manual shifting.
On paper, the GS F can’t chase its rivals which have more powerful engine. The M5 has 552 hp, the E63 AMG comes with 550 hp, and the Caddy CTS-V produces 640 hp. But Lexus GS F is lighter than its competitors. According to the automaker, the 4-door luxury sedan is 1,830 kg of weight. It means that it is lighter than BMW M5, Mercedes E63 AMG, and the fastest one Cadillac CTS-V. I don’t know whether its weight could be effect to beat its rival on the track.
